Save the Orchid Species - Save the Rain Forest http://www.orchidconservationalliance.org/OCA/OCA_JoinUs.html Many orchid species as well as thousands of plant species, wild life, birds, etc. living in the rain forest are being lost forever because of deforestation, (slashing and burning ) of the rain forests around the world. The Orchid Conservation Alliance purchases acres of orchid rich rain forests destined for destruction so that new generations will be able to see orchid species growing in nature as well as wild life, birds, reptiles and others inhabiting the rain forest. The ORCHID CONSERVATION ALLIANCE (OCA) IS IN THE PROCESS OF RAISING FUNDS TO PURCHASE ORCHID RICH ACREAGE IN VARIOUS COUNTRIES SUCH AS ECUADOR, BRAZIL, COLOMBIA, ETC. THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS AND ITS MEMBERS ARE DEDICATED TO THIS PROJECT. I am personally acquainted with some of the directors of this fine organization and in February 2014, our Hilo Orchid Society invited Mr. Ronald Kaufman, Ph.D., as a speaker on Orchid Conservation. The local Hilo Tribune was present at the Hilo Orchid Society meeting and wrote a large article in their news paper on conserevation of orchid species in the rain forest Please get involved and help preserve stretches of rain forests for new generations to come by joining OCA and donate so they can purchase more stretches of rain forests and keep them from being destroyed forever. http://www.orchiconservationalliance.org/OCA/OCA_JoinUs.html The following article on deforestation is posted on the National Geographic web site under "Deforestation" http://environment.nationalgeographic.com/environment/global-warming/deforestation-overview/ Article on Global deforestation: http://www.globalchange.umich.edu/globalchange2/current/lectures/deforest/deforest.html |
